welcome

Dear Family and Friends,

This is going to me a more pictoral Road to Gimbie.

In the medical part of our hospital, we have had quite a number of children with gastroenteritis, malnutrition and diarrheal disorders. We had one come in today that is severely dehydrated due to vomiting and diarrhea for a week. I have attached a picture of this little one-month-old baby. We could not get an IV started, so we are feeding the baby by nasogastric tube with a solution to replace all the fluids that the baby has lost. We are praying that the little guy is going to make it. Notice the sunken eyes and the dab of butter on the head. The butter covers a very sunken anterior fontanelle (the soft spot on the baby's head), indicating quite severe dehydration. The butter is believed to have all kinds of healing properties here.

The hospital has some good things that happen in addition to the illness that we see. The next picture that I attached is one of a new addition to our hospital family. The mom, Alemtsehay, works as our ward clerk, and the dad is our physiotherapist. The picture is of their two-week-old baby girl.

Finally, construction is continuing. I have included a picture of the front entrance of the new hospital.

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.

Sincerely in Christ,

Nick, Phosfe, Christopher and Ian Walters
